Cape Leveque

Published on January 30th, 2012 by in Latest

In Western Australia and just North of Broome you’ll find the landscape of Cape Leveque. It’s a remote place and most roads to get there are unsealed. But this is changing already and soon the whole road will be drivable by any car. This will change the atmosphere for sure and the trip to Kooljaman won’t be adventurous anymore. Kooljaman lies 220 km north of Broome and there are two Aborigine communities who are also the joint owner of the accommodation with camp sites and luxury safari tents. A great stop on the way is the Middle Lagoon. Have a break and snorkel, swim and enjoy the beautiful lagoon. It also belongs to an Aborigine Community, so you’ve got to pay a small fee. You should bring your own food to Kooljaman, because the next supermarket is in Broome. You’ll be just able to buy frozen bread or tinned goods in the general store. From

Cairns

Australia’s original inhabitants have a unique place with a rich heritage of traditional knowledge, practice and belief underpinning a constantly changing contemporary society. For most visitors this is superficially presented through stereotypical images of the painted dancers, silhouetted noble hunters and laughing children, usually from northern Australia. To a local that looks like a comic portrayal; while visitors go back content they met the real aborigines. Increasingly people want to go beyond this veneer of mainstream travel to seek a greater contact and understanding of what Australian Aboriginal culture is truly about. Those looking to experience Aboriginal culture and meet the people often find this a difficult and frustrating task. The easiest solution is to bypass those travel & operators and go direct. Just go and if you are good to them they will be great to you too! Take a taste of aboriginal culture here Watch this video on YouTube. And in case you felt you will need

Torquay

Published on January 26th, 2012 by in Latest

When you think of surfing in Victoria, you undoubtedly think of Torquay before any other town. This ever popular resort town marks the official beginning of the Great Ocean Road. It is, unsurprisingly, the capital of Surfing in Australia, with Jan Juc Beach right at it’s doorstep, and the famous Bells Beach only minutes away. Many well known surf brands have their headquarters based right here, all of which have retail outlets at the huge Surf City Plaza. You can get your surf gear from a huge variety to choose! The area was home to the Wathaurong Aborigines prior to the white settlement, and was a popular picnic spot in the 1860s. Folks in the 18th century used to throng here for day picninc. The town was settled as Spring Creek in 1871, and was renamed Torquay in 1892, after the seaside town in (at that time) home sweet England. Today it is a thriving city

Sydney Taronga Zoo

Published on January 26th, 2012 by in Latest

It is easy to see the resemblance between humans and chimps, we’re not so distant after all, and this is a great opportunity to see our former selves in action. Ancestors some of us call them. Sure they diaplay some of our behaviour. Primate ? Well, check them out at the Sydney Taronga Zoo in Mosman. It’s a multi-storey place surrounded by a massive yard, swaying palm trees and the most spectacular views of Sydney Harbour – no wonder it costed $7 million to build. It’s a captivating display as one by one the chimps pour in to the enclosure and begin running around, hooting, screaming and calling to one another. Adding to their excitement is breakfast, including watermelons and coconuts strewn across the area and hidden treats for extra entertainment. Once the initial thrill of food passes, the chimps focus on exploring their home, climbing a network of ropes to 12-metre-high towers, relaxing in a
